At Park St Dental Practice, we believe a child’s early experiences at the dentist can shape how they feel about dental care for many years. Our approach to children’s dentistry in Mona Vale is gentle, patient and focused on helping children feel safe, comfortable and confident from their very first visits.
Regular dental check-ups allow us to monitor your child’s teeth, gums, bite and dental development as they grow. They also give us the opportunity to identify early signs of tooth decay, enamel problems or other concerns before they become more difficult to manage. Preventive care, including professional cleaning, fluoride treatments and fissure sealants where appropriate, can help protect young teeth and reduce the risk of future dental problems.
Just as importantly, we want children to learn that visiting the dentist can be a positive experience. We take time to explain things in language they understand, introduce treatment gradually and encourage healthy brushing, eating and oral hygiene habits at home.
From the first tooth through the teenage years, our team is here to support healthy growing smiles and help children develop confidence in looking after their teeth for life.
Every stage of childhood brings different dental needs. At Park St Dental Practice in Mona Vale, our approach to children’s dentistry focuses on prevention, healthy development and creating positive experiences from an early age. From a child’s first dental visit through to the teenage years, we provide gentle, age-appropriate care while helping children and parents understand how to keep growing smiles healthy.
A child’s first dental visit is an important step in building a positive relationship with dental care. We generally encourage the first visit when the first tooth appears or by around 12 months of age.
At Park St Dental Practice in Mona Vale, we keep early visits gentle, relaxed and appropriate for your child’s age and confidence. The first appointment may simply involve becoming familiar with the dental environment, having their teeth checked and allowing parents to ask questions about brushing, diet, teething and oral development.
There is no need to rush. Our priority is to help your child feel safe, comfortable and proud of their visit, creating a positive foundation for future dental care.
Prevention is at the heart of our approach to children’s dentistry in Mona Vale. Regular dental check-ups allow us to monitor your child’s teeth, gums, bite and dental development while identifying small concerns before they become more difficult to manage.
Depending on your child’s individual needs, preventive care may include gentle professional cleaning, fluoride treatment and fissure sealants, as well as practical advice about brushing, flossing and diet.
We also encourage children to become involved in caring for their own teeth as they grow, helping healthy habits become part of everyday life.
Children can experience dental problems even when parents are doing their best to care for their teeth. Tooth decay, enamel defects, sensitivity, dental infections and injuries are some of the conditions we commonly assess in children.
Some problems may initially cause very few symptoms, which is why regular dental examinations are valuable. Early detection can often mean simpler and more conservative treatment.
When treatment is required, our team will explain the options clearly to parents and introduce treatment to the child in an age-appropriate and reassuring way.
It is completely normal for some children to feel nervous about visiting the dentist. We believe trust should be earned gradually rather than rushed.
Our dentists take time to talk with children, explain what is happening in language they understand and introduce new experiences at a pace appropriate for them. Sometimes a successful appointment simply means allowing a child to become comfortable in the dental chair and leaving with a positive memory.
For children who need additional support for dental treatment, happy gas (nitrous oxide) may be considered when clinically appropriate.
At Park St Dental Practice on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, our aim is not only to care for your child’s teeth today, but to help them develop confidence in dental care that can last into adulthood.

We take time to help your child feel comfortable in the dental environment. For younger or nervous children, this may mean introducing the dental chair and equipment gradually, explaining each step in simple language and allowing them time to become familiar with their surroundings.
At Park St Dental Practice, Children’s dentists gently examine your child’s teeth and gums and monitor their bite and dental development. We also look for early signs of tooth decay, enamel problems and other concerns so they can be addressed as early as possible.
Dental X-rays may be recommended when we need additional information that cannot be seen during an examination. They are only taken when clinically appropriate and can help us assess developing teeth, tooth decay and other dental concerns.

Dr Neda Gorji and Dr Michael Hui are both parents of young children, so they understand dental visits from both perspectives — as dentists and as parents. They understand the questions and concerns parents may have, as well as the reassurance, patience and encouragement children sometimes need to feel comfortable and build trust.
