A dental emergency is a problem involving your teeth, gums or mouth that may require urgent attention to relieve significant pain, manage infection or bleeding, or protect a damaged tooth. Seeking emergency dental care promptly can help reduce discomfort and prevent the problem from becoming more serious.

A severe or persistent toothache can be caused by tooth decay, infection, a cracked tooth or inflammation around the tooth. Our emergency dentists in Mona Vale can assess the cause of your dental pain and recommend appropriate treatment to relieve your symptoms and protect your oral health.
Dental trauma can result in a chipped, broken, loosened or knocked-out tooth. Prompt emergency dental care is particularly important for a knocked-out or displaced tooth, as early treatment may improve the chance of saving the tooth.
A dental abscess or infection may cause toothache, swelling, tenderness, a bad taste or discomfort when biting. Dental infections should be assessed promptly, particularly if swelling is increasing or you feel unwell. Our team can identify the source of the infection and discuss the appropriate treatment.
A broken or lost filling or crown can leave the tooth sensitive, uncomfortable or vulnerable to further damage. At Park St Dental Practice in Mona Vale, we can assess the affected tooth and determine whether the filling or crown can be repaired or needs replacement.
At Park St Dental Practice in Mona Vale, our emergency dentists aim to assess urgent dental problems promptly, relieve discomfort and determine the most appropriate treatment. From severe toothache and dental infections to broken or knocked-out teeth, we tailor your emergency dental care to your individual needs.
We assess your symptoms, examine the affected tooth or area and, when required, take diagnostic X-rays to help identify the cause of your dental emergency and determine the most appropriate treatment.
Our immediate priority is to relieve discomfort and address the urgent problem. Depending on your situation, treatment may include managing infection, repairing or stabilising a damaged tooth, or providing other appropriate emergency care.

Rinse your mouth gently, brush carefully and keep the area clean. Avoid placing aspirin or other medication directly against the tooth or gums. If the pain is severe or persistent, contact Park St Dental Practice so we can assess the cause and arrange appropriate emergency dental care.
Handle the tooth carefully by the crown, not the root. If it is dirty, gently rinse it without scrubbing. If possible, gently reposition the adult tooth in its socket. If this is not possible, keep it moist in milk and seek dental care immediately.. Do not attempt to reinsert a knocked-out baby tooth.
Rinse your mouth gently and keep any broken pieces if possible. Avoid biting or chewing on the affected tooth and contact our emergency dentists in Mona Vale promptly. We can assess the damage and determine the most appropriate treatment to protect and restore the tooth.
Dental swelling or an abscess should be assessed promptly, particularly when associated with pain, fever or feeling unwell. Contact our team for advice and an urgent appointment. If swelling is rapidly increasing or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek urgent medical attention.
